DepEd pushes arts and culture | The Manila Bulletin Newspaper Online: "“What we need is to come up with an arts and culture program that would naturally attract students into it without having to force them,” said Education Sec, Armin Luistro during the first National Conference on Arts and Culture organized by the Association of Cultural Offices in Philippine Educational Institutions, (ACOPEI) Inc. “Artists like you need to be more creative to bring arts education about especially to ordinary citizens,” he added.

The two-day conference dubbed “Arts and Culture in the Academe…not an afterthought: Building the Foundations of a Creative Campus Environment” started on April 14 at the College of Saint Benilde Hotel in Manila was participated in by member schools including Adamson University, De La Salle University, Mapua Institute of Technology, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Far Eastern University, University of the East, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Lyceum of the Philippines University and University of the Philippines-Manila. It aims to create a venue for discussion with the government institutions in culture and education regarding the status of culture and arts education in the academe."
