"Agritechtural’ Farm and Training Center in Barangay Macatbong, Cabanatuan which is a 1.5-hectare piece of land.
There are 156 kinds of organic vegetables, fruits and medicinal plants grown here. There are livestock and a fishpond.
“Lahat ng kaylangan ng pamilya nandyan. Kung gusto mo ng may meat, meron kang alagang manok. Itlog nila napakarami. May fishpond doon within 3,000 square meters,” said Villegas Agritechtural Farm and Training Center executive director and school administrator Ed Reyes. (All the baasic needs of a family are there. If you like meat, there are chickens and eggs. There’s a fishpond within 3,000 square meters.)
This was made possible through the sustainable farming system.
Under this program, farmers may do organic farming and vermicomposting.
The livestock and fish must be fed with organic food to avoid spending much.
The system aims to make the work easier for farmers and increase their income.
“Kasi yong technology na ina-apply namin para magaan ang pagsasaka, pero marami kang inaani, hindi lang sapat, sobra pa at hindi lang basta pagkain, “safe” na pagkain,” Reyes added. (The technology we apply to make farming easier and increase harvest, is not just sufficient but more than sufficient. And its not just food, but “safe” food.)

UN reports significant progress in child protection in the Philippines
The Government of the Philippines and a rebel group with which it signed a peace accord have made progress in ending and preventing the recruitment of children on the southern island of Mindanao, according to a new United Nations report.
The Secretary-General’s fourth report on the impact on children of armed conflict in the Philippines “describes significant progress in the protection of boys and girls, despite ongoing violations against children,” according to the UN Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba.
In 2009, the Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) signed an action plan to halt and prevent the recruitment and use of children in the armed conflict on Mindanao.
Since then, more than 1,850 children have been identified and formally disengaged, the UN reported.
Special Representative Gamba encouraged the MILF to “draw on the current momentum to fully implement the Action Plan and to reinforce the necessary safeguards to prevent future recruitment and association of children.”"

Japan donates P826-M to DOH for expansion of drug rehab program: "Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Representative Susumo Ito and Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial
The Department of Health (DOH) received millions of pesos worth of funding for the expansion of its rehabilitation program for drug dependents.
“This assistance from Japan is actually worth about 1.85 billion yen or an estimated 826 million pesos. We are indeed very grateful and we hope to continue this close cooperation with the Philippines and the government of Japan,” DOH Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial said.
The DOH and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement for the start of the said program.
“We stand together with DOH in enhancing rehabilitation and treatment protocols. And with these interventions, We hope that the program can contribute in reducing relapse risks and eventually integrate them back into their communities,” JICA Chief Representative Susumo Ito said.

Based on the report of the Dangerous Drugs Board, there are 1.6 million drug surrenderers, while there are 4 million drug users.
12,000 of the surrenderers are currently confined at 44 rehab centers across the country.
The health department is also studying the possibility of building additional facilities not just for drug users but also for mentally ill people.
“Really trying to integrate eventually that our drug rehabilitation facilities will be a facility for mental illness rather than just a facility for drug rehabilitation,” Secretary Ubial said.
Meanwhile, the Dangerous Drugs Board has created a new regulation for drug users with criminal records.
Under the new rule, a drug user with criminal record has to undergo assessment first to determine whether or not the person in question should be confined in a drug rehab center or be treated while in jail.
“Iyang ganiyang bagay pinag- uusapan sa Korte iyan, pini- plea iyan tapos ina-assess both sides kung talagang pwede ba na ipasok. Kung pwede naman, meron naman tayong regulation na allowed sila… whatever time spent in rehab will be counted, part ng ibabawas sa kanilang sentensya (Matters like that are discussed in court. A plea has to be entered, and both sides assessed if they can be put in rehab centers. If approved, we have a regulation that allows them. Whatever time spent in rehab will be counted as part of their sentence),” said Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman, Benjamin Reyes. — Aiko Miguel | UNTV News & Rescue"

REHAB PROGRAM: Ex-addicts complete rehabilitation program in Cavite and Rizal
Ex-addicts complete rehabilitation program in Cavite and Rizal: "Thirty-five former drug addicts finished the community-based drug rehabilitation program of the local government of Bacoor City, Cavite.
From 160 drug surrenderers, only 35 were able to complete the 45-day rehabilitation program.
The 35 graduates have undergone physical and spiritual development trainings and livelihood seminars.
To jump start their new lives, the graduates are given jobs and livelihood starter kits.
Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla said, “They are given certificate of completion and scholarships for TESDA. Some of them are also given jobs.”
Bacoor City also plans to launch a hotline for drug users who want to turn over a new leaf.
Meanwhile, 177 drug surrenderers have completed on Friday an eight-month community treatment and rehab program that began in July 2016 in Tanay, Rizal.
Meanwhile, surrenderers who were not able to finish the rehabilitation will be visited again.
Diosdadao Baquiran of Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council said, “Those who were not able to finish the community based treatment and rehab, will be visited at their homes by other surrenderers who will be the ones to convince them to undergo the said program.”
The local government of Rizal also vows to provide jobs to the graduates who have also undergone vocational skills as part of the said program.
Tanay Mayor Rex Tanjuatco said, “Sa mga nakatapos naman sa kanilang unit, walang trabaho [ For those who finished the program but don’t have job], we have cash for work.
